  • Friday, Feb. 23rd – 4:30 pm: Delivering a conference presentation, “‘Surpassed by Her Beauty’: The Patriarchal Readership, the Sympathetic Imagination, and the Complications of Marie de France’s Proto-Feminism” at the Conference on the Sympathetic Imagination: Literature, Film, and Writing of Sympathy and Empathy sponsored by the Association of College English Teachers of Alabama in Troy, Alabama.
    • Conference is a closed event open only to registrants.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 27 – 5:30 pm: Alongside Dr. Andrea Hunt, Jason McCall, and Dr. Karla Zelaya, will be a panelist on the Black Panther Film Discussion at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library, Florence, Alabama. Panelist will discuss the comics, the film, Afro-Futurism, and hip-hop.

  • Thursday, March 1st – 12:00 noon: Premiere of The Alabama Bigfoot Society, a documentary short co-produced by Stephen and Tashina Southard. Taking place in the Communications Building on the campus of The University of North Alabama, it is part of 42 Alabama films screening at the George Lindsey UNA Film Festival.
    • Event is free and open to the public.
    • A Q&A featuring Stephen and Tashina will follow.

  • Thursday, March 1st – 6:00 p.m.: Along with filmmakers all over Alabama, the U.S., and the world, will attend the 2018 Lindsey Film Fest Kick-Off Party, held at the Keystone Building Gallery, 623 S. Seminary, Florence, AL. Come enjoy food, libations, and fun with the festival’s attendees.
