The Alabama Bigfoot Society
The Alabama Bigfoot Society is a documentary short co-produced by Tashina Southard and Stephen G. Melvin. During their quest to uncover the folklore behind “The Hollerin’ Thang” (see below), they interviewed Jim Smith, the founder of the Alabama Bigfoot Society. The filmmakers were so enthralled by his story and his take on the nature of belief, they produced a short film with him at the center.
The short will make its debut at the 21st Annual George Lindsey UNA Film Festival in Florence, Alabama. The fest will take place from March 1-3 2018. Admission is free and open to the public.
We hope to see all of you there.
The Hollerin’ Thang
The documentary includes interviews from historians, researchers, cryptozoologists as well as eyewitnesses who claim to have seen the strange beast who haunts the forests of Northwest Alabama. The crew will also travel to spots where sightings have occurred and trek deep into the wilderness in hopes of catching a glimpse of this elusive beast of legend.
As the crew continues their research, they offer a unique experience to their audience: granting them behind-the-scenes access and glimpses into their progression at each stretch. To see this bonus material, follow their Instagram and Facebook page.
